Magic Shops in Ireland

18 February 2009 12,283 views 13 Comments Ian McCarthy

I am noticing a decent bit of search engine traffic that is coming here is from people looking for more information on magic shops in the country, so I thought I would address this directly.

There is only one magic shop that I know of in the Republic of Ireland, there may be another in Northern Ireland, but I really don’t know. The only magic shop in the country is ‘The Magic Shop’, which is owned by Paddy Clancy in Limerick. It is a small little costume/magic shop within walking distance of the town center, he does not have a huge range of stock, but it can be a wonderful place if you are either new to magic, or you need specific supplies (Sponges, Flash Paper etc). Paddy is happy to demonstrate anything that he has in stock, and he is a wonderfully plesant guy.

The details of the store are as follows.

The Magic Shop
6 Mallow Street
Limerick

There’s a magic shop in Limerick
    With shiny wooden floors
    And torn and restored papers
    Covering the doors.
But take a peek in the back room
    At the sparkling pretty sights,
There’s cases and cases and cases
    Of unsold thumbtipped de-lites.

Does anyone in their late 60’s remember a young Magician in Limerick by the name of Bjorn Kniebe? He used to do Magic Shows Around Limerick City and Kilkee and around small towns in the Country in the 50’s and early 60’s sometimes under the Stage name of “Sandini the Magician”

In those days there were no Magic shops in Limerick and he had to buy his props by mail order from England.

It’s great to see there is a Magic Shop in Limerick now.

Bjorn still does Magic shows but mainly for Church groups these days.

    Respectfully

    “Sandini”

Hi guys, just wanted to comment that there is card magic course running in Dublin city centre. It is pretty good to make the magic community grow, check it out here: http://www.gumtree.ie/p/community/card-magic-course/79427167
