About

magicireland.com is an attempt to establish a better online presence for Irish magicians. It is currently run by two Irish magicians, Ian McCarthy and Harry Guinness. They write the majority of posts, but from time to time they can convince someone else to do their dirty work for them. If you are interested in writing a guest article, on anything from a juggling, to close up, please feel free to drop us a line. We are also happy to publish any press releases you may have as long as they relate to magic in Ireland.

If you own an online store or produce magic products, we will also generally be happy to put together a post detailing any of your new releases.

Who is involved in magicireland.com?

Ian McCarthy

Ian is an amateur magician from Killarney in Co. Kerry, he has been flicking cards and little balls of sponge about the place for three or four years now. Ian’s secret identity is that of a humble web developer, which gave him the capability to set up and run this website. From time to time Ian has toyed around with other types of magic or performance (Mentalism, Hypnotism etc), but he has always gravitated back to his first love, close-up.

Harry Guinness

Harry is a young professional magician just entering the Dublin magic scene. All his life he has loved magic and in the last 18 months has really dedicated himself to the art. His big break was beating five other magicians to be accepted on to Glas Vegas, a TG4 talent show. This is due to be broadcast shortly. He also worked in the rehearsal room of Magick Macbre, Joe Daly’s massive theatrical illusion show.

As a professional, Harry’s prefered kind of magic is mentalism but he is also a competent card worker and loves nothing more than fecking around with a deck in his hand when watching TV or pretending to do real work.

Harry also has a deep passion for Stage Hypnotism and is starting to perform hypnosis on the Dublin comedy club circuit. Harry blends his experience as a hypnotist with his abilities as a mentalist to great effect.

Harry can be contacted through this site or his personal site: www.harrythemagician.ie
